Hey Robin,
I had happened-upon a wonderful knitted-toy pattern, and since I was in the "find easy patterns for my Knitting Club Girls (a.k.a. Knitlets)" mindset I downloaded it right away with the intent to share.

I have been bitten by the bunny nugget bug

My New Appendage

Hey Kate!

The Spawn is modeling my new iPod armband. After all of that searching and kvetching and teststitching, I ended up cannibalizing my first, unfinished sock and crocheting a pocket to sew on it. It isn't particularly fetching, but it is useful and fun and surprisingly more comfortable than I was expecting. The yarn is discontinued from Knit Picks -- a sock yarn that I think was called Dancing. I don't remember. It's stretchy.

What's goin' on

Hey Kate,

So, I'm obsessed with the Jane Austen Book Club group in Ravelry. I love indulging my addiction to re-reading Jane Austen novels by discussing them with fellow Austenophiles. I also get to submit projects to the group as part of a knit/crochet/spin/whateveralong. It's a blast.

I actually have an FO: A jewelry frame. You linked me the pattern and I adjusted it to do what I needed it to.


I also started a Twirly Skirt.

I love this pattern! I'm using the Lily cotton yarn and I am enjoying knitting with it as much as I enjoy crocheting with it. I am working on it almost all the time and am making record progress.

I am also getting involved in the WoW Knitters and Crocheters Ravelry group. They are a fun group and I'm enjoying chatting about my favorite game along with my favorite pastime.

Your spring looks lovely. Unfortunately, we went straight to summer. But enough whining. I have progress pics!

The long and short of it

Hey Kate!

So I finished the Fetching.


I love them. It's such a great pattern.


I also finally got around to weaving in the ends and washing my enormous crocheted Kimono shawl.


The pattern is from the 2006 Crochet Pattern a day calendar and I've forgotten what it is really called. It came out much better than I thought it would and I really like it. But it is HUGE.

Emme loves it too, but she doesn't want to pose. She just wants to walk around wearing it like a princess.


I'm currently working on that cute Japanese bag, a Bramble stitch neckerchief and an Amanda Hat, but I have no pics yet.

Forced Bookmarkage

Hey Kate!

So I'm finally giving in to The Spousal Unit's demands for a bookmark. I'm knitting the Baby Fern lace pattern from the Reader's Digest Complete Guide to Needlework and I'm using the Patons Grace cotton yarn.

This is version 2.0. My first try, I started off with some rows of stockinette which throws off the shape because of the built in scalloped edging. I also added a stockinette edge on each side which made it way lopsided. It turns out that the lace pattern has a built-in edge on one side. So when I frogged and restarted, I left off all my stockinette stuff and just added the built-in edge to the other side.

There's some nastiness on the left side which isn't an error as much as it is some overzealous looping which I'm hoping will even out in the blocking.

Thor says just because I'm being forced to make a bookmark, doesn't mean I should force him to be a model. Well, he's going to have to stop providing pictures like the above if he wants to stop modeling. I'm just sayin'.

My little model

Hey Kate!

I hope your trip back was uneventful and safe! I had so much fun spending the day petting yarn with you, I can't express it.

I finally put the straps on my first knit/crochet design. And I did a terrible job of it, so I'm going to have to re-anchor them. Here's a pic from before they all fell off. Emme never pulls on her shirt, but has been pulling on this one all day. Sigh.

Using Bernat Satin (100% Acrylic but super soft), I just did stockinette in the round according to her chest measurement plus a little bit. I crocheted the edges and did crocheted tied straps -- the ones that don't work. The bottom curls up... overall not a good design, but it was fun to do and it is a usable top. I now want to make a jumper for her, but I need a pattern.

I also finished my crochet case. It is a bit lopsided, but I still love it. The pattern is from my 2006 Crochet Pattern a Day calendar and is crocheted with either Lion Brand Cotton or Lily Sugar'n Cream -- I don't remember which and Recycled Sari Silk yarn -- just odds and ends from my stash.

As you can see, Emme is helping me display the case. She's very helpful that way.

Right now she is running around with her new Xbox 360 hat on (thank you!) which I rescued from her daddy.
